Principal’s Weekly Bulletin – 20/03/2026

Good afternoon Parents / Guardians,

There is a real sense of momentum and positivity across the school as we look ahead to the final week of Term 2.

Next week will be our annual Wellbeing Week, a timely and important opportunity to focus on supporting our school community’s emotional, social and physical wellbeing. This is particularly meaningful as we approach the end of Term 2 and prepare for the Easter break on Friday 27th March.

Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to take part in a range of activities designed to promote balance, connection and positive mental health. We encourage families to support this focus at home by continuing conversations around wellbeing and encouraging rest and healthy routines. As we move into this busy but rewarding period, we remain very proud of the effort and resilience shown by our students. As the saying goes, “Wellbeing is realised by small steps, but is truly no small thing.”

Please take some time to read through the notices below to keep up to date and abreast of all that is going on in St Seton’s.

Have a lovely weekend,
Sarah Green

Principal

Tús Nua Update

Thank you to all the parents who have written to the local representatives. They have been in contact with me to say they have received a big increase in the correspondence from local residents regarding St Seton’s which is wonderful. Thank you for your support.

Save the Date: There is a Public Meeting being hosted in St Seton’s on Tuesday, 21st April at 6pm to raise our collective voices about the concerns over the unacceptable delays to our new school building project. We want to hear from our parents / guardians on the night so please save the date in your diaries and show your support on the night.

Wellbeing Week – Message from Ms Howell

Next week St Seton’s celebrates our annual Well Being week! There are many activities for students in school including hoop competitions, bingo, “Drop everything and be mindful” and many more! Every morning at 8am, a teacher will accompany students on a short ‘morning mile’ walk returning before 8.45am. Please encourage your young person to join the ‘Morning Mile’ group who will leave at 8am from junior campus reception each day next week.

Wellbeing Events for Parents / Guardians:

We are delighted to welcome parents in for a Parents Cookery Evening on Tuesday, 24th March from 6pm to 8pm on the Junior Campus.

If you wish to join or take part in this event, please contact our HSCL at: hscl@stsetons.ie or 0894466267 (Noel) or 0852347143 (Loretta).

BOM Meeting – 24th March 2026

The next Board meeting is taking place on Tuesday, 24th March at 7pm.

LCE Oral Exam Info

The LC Orals are taking place over the Easter holidays on the following dates:

Irish – 29th March – 1st April

French – 28th / 29th March

Italian – 30th March

Spanish – 31st March & 1st April

Thank you to Ms Higgins and Ms Casey who coordinate the Exam Arrangements. Students are given individual dates and times for their orals. Efforts are made to have no overlap with no student having two oral exams in one day.

The oral exams are a stressful time for students. Here are some helpful tips on how parents / guardians can support their child in preparation for these important exams:

  • Encourage your child to practise speaking aloud while they are revising. This builds confidence and fluency.
  • As much as possible, create a calm, supportive environment at home to help reduce pressure and anxiety.
  • Ensure they are well-rested, well-fed(!), organised and reassured – a positive mindset and encouragement from home can make a significant difference on the day.

As always, we will play our part in school to make sure students are well supported and reassured on the oral exam days. Mostly, students find the experience to be a positive one but the first oral exam is certainly daunting.

ISPCC – Parent Hub & Online Digital Mental Health Programme for Teenagers

ISPCC has wonderful resources for parents / guardians to help support your child if they are struggling with their mental health and anxiety. There is also lots of general parent advice and support.
You can visit the Hub here.

Two particularly helpful resources are linked below:
