Principal’s Weekly Bulletin – 09/01/2026

Friday – 9th January 2026

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to the new term! We hope you and your families had a restful and joyful Christmas break and that 2026 is off to a positive start for you all. It has been wonderful to see our students return with energy, enthusiasm, and a renewed focus on learning.

On 5th January, we celebrated the feast day of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, reflecting on her lifelong commitment to education, faith, and service to others. Her example continues to inspire our school community to live out these values each day.

This first week back has been filled with engaging class lessons, important planning for the term ahead, and the warm hum of our school community reconnecting. We are particularly excited about the opportunities this term brings -from academic challenges to co-curricular activities and the continued development of wellbeing initiatives that support every student.

As always, your support at home is vital in helping our students succeed and we encourage you to stay connected with us throughout the term. Together, we can ensure that every student thrives academically, socially, and personally.

Please see the usual mix of important information for parents and guardians details below.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy start to the term.

Warm regards,

Sarah Green

Principal

Parent / Teacher Meetings for 4th & 5th Year Students – Thursday, 15th January 2026

The Parent Teacher Meetings for TY & 5th Year take place on Thursday, 15th January from 16.15 – 18.45. Classes will finish for all students at 15.15 on Thursday. These parent teacher meetings will take place on the Senior Campus.
During these meetings, we are introducing a new change that parents / guardians are not able to meet with the Year Heads of the year group. This is to avoid huge queues which impacted on parents / guardians in previous parent teacher meetings and caused significant delays and disruption. If parents / guardians wish to meet the YH, that will be recorded and the Year Head will make contact after the parent / teacher meeting.

Christmas Reports

The Christmas Reports following the Christmas exams will be published on Compass next week on Wednesday. Parents / Guardians are encouraged to contact the school or email info@stsetons.ie if you are experiencing any difficulties accessing Compass. The reports for TY & 5th year will be printed and available at the parent teacher meeting. Hard copies of reports, upon request, can be printed and sent home with students but we will not be posting the reports.

26th January – Oide School Closure Day – Programmes Support Planning for Senior Cycle Redevelopment

Our final school closure day for Oide Teacher Training this year will take place on Monday 26th January. There will be no school for students on this day.

Supporting Student Wellbeing Together – Join Neart (Please see the flyer here)

Our school is delighted to be part of Neart, a national programme of mental health and wellbeing supports and resources developed byJigsaw (The National Centre for Youth Mental Health) and NEPS/Department of Education & Youth. Neart works with schools to strengthen mental health and wellbeing across the whole school community.

As parents and guardians, you play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people. That is why Neart offers a growing collection of free webinars, podcasts and guides, designed to give parents practical strategies for supporting the wellbeing of the young people in their lives.

These resources are shaped by the voices of over 1,800 parents and guardians (survey with National Parents Council) and draw on compassionate, evidenced-informed guidance.

Topics include:

  •  Managing anxiety: practical ways to support young people.
  • Supporting young people who are struggling to attend school.
  • Social media & young people’s mental health.
  • Supporting your own self-care.

Celebrating School Community Success

  • Congratulations to the students (Alex, Cobi and Jack) who represented St Seton’s so well at the Young Scientist Exhibition this week. Thank you to Ms Griffin who has supported them and put huge time and effort into their project. This is a really significant achievement for St Seton’s.

  • Well done to our 1st Year Science Classes who visited the Young Scientist Exhibition on Thursday. The students had a wonderful time and were inspired to participate in the exhibition in the future.

  • Hard luck to our U19 Football team who lost the Semi Final of the Shield yesterday but played very well in the match. Thanks to the teachers who supported them.
