Principal’s Weekly Bulletin – 06/03/2026

Good evening Parents / Guardians,

As we move into March, there is a real sense that spring is beginning to take hold, with longer days and brighter mornings bringing renewed energy to our school community. This time of year often brings a positive momentum for students as they continue their learning and involvement in school life. We are very proud of the effort and engagement we see from our students each day, both in the classroom and in their wider participation in school activities. Keep up that positive focus on Attendance! Encourage your child to be their own HERO – be Here, Every day, Ready to learn and On time!

Over the coming week, we will also be celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge, which provides a wonderful opportunity to promote and enjoy the Irish language and culture throughout the school. Students will have opportunities to engage in a range of activities that encourage the use of “cúpla focal” in a fun and inclusive way. We encourage families to join in at home if they wish by using a few Irish words or phrases during the week.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the school and our students. Please take some time to read the important information below.

Warm regards,
Sarah Green

Principal

An Tus Nua Update

The Tus Nua group has secured a meeting with the Minister for Education, Hildegarde Naughton,  to take place on Monday, 9th March through Senator Evanne Ni Chuillinn. John Barry (Chair of BOM), Keith O’Brien (Chair of An Tus Nua) and I will attend this meeting and present the case for St Seton’s Building Project to be prioritised.

As you know the An Tús Nua group is actively campaigning for progress on our promised new building. The operation of St Seton’s on two campuses was always planned as a temporary measure and the lack of progress being made to bring our school together onto one campus is completely unsatisfactory and creates an untenable situation for the smooth operation of St Seton’s. Everyone in the school is doing their best, but our best would be much better on one campus in a new building with all the facilities that our students deserve.

The Tús Nua group are encouraging parents / guardians to have your voice heard. We ask that you write to the local representatives in this area and raise concern about the lack of progress on the new building for St Seton’s and invite the Minister for Education to visit the school and see the difficult conditions it is operating in.

To make this easier, please find the text of a template letter that you can copy and paste into an email HERE and just add your name to the bottom, replacing the red writing.

Please email your letters to the following people:

Site Management / Works

Repairs have taken place to the potholes on the senior campus driveway. It’s a temporary fix until we secure funding to resurface the area completely.

The final fencing and installation of the gates has been completed on the Senior Campus.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge takes place next week. Most activities for students will take place during ranganna Gaeilge. We encourage all our school community to use their cúpla focal as much as possible throughout the week and to support and encourage students to do the same. “Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste!”

Please find HERE an invitation to ‘Siúlóid Baile Formaid’ / ‘Ballyfermot’s Parade’ which is taking place on Thursday, 12th March. The walk is from the Ballyfermot Library to the Civic Centre! Come and join in this celebration of our heritage and culture in our local community.

Kindness Heroes

Next week we celebrate Kindness Heroes Week in St Seton’s. During Well Being teachers will be reinforcing the importance of kindness and making kindness our school’s superpower. Teachers will also explain the Random Acts of Kindness procedure for the week which can be viewed here.

On both campuses, there will be slips at reception for teachers and students to nominate students for their random acts of kindness throughout the week. All students nominated will get a Kindness Cert and be entered into a draw for a voucher for Vue cinema.

See HERE an article that featured in the Echo!
